The Feminine Influence in my art

The feminine permeates all of nature.

She gives birth to every living being on the earth, to spirit, to the ether...to all currents that move through all things.

She is sacred.

She is the giver of life, the keeper of love, the force that heals, nurtures, and sustains. She seeks peace.

Again and again, she is asked to submit, surrender and deny her power.

She is the first presence that destructive forces seek to diminish and destroy. Now, more than ever,

the feminine is needed. She needs to be protected, and respected.

Her wisdom and influence shapes the natural world. She has so much to offer, so much to say.

With my art, I hope to remind the viewer of how even the smallest and most delicate things in nature are powerful. I include enduring icons and symbols of the feminine,

carried through myth, music, art, poetry, and dance. The stories told about these figures

are deeply multidimensional and endlessly fascinating,

revealing the intelligence, creativity, and inventiveness of women throughout history.

Top Image  Fatima was selected as the cover image for the 2021 We'Moon Calendar, an internationally beloved astrological and lunar calendar known for honoring feminine wisdom, creativity, and cyclical living.  Representing the spirit of the feminine, Fatima cradles the earth in her arms while moving through the heavens, offering a vision of balance, love, and peace to a world lost in confusion, fear, and violence.

Shapeshifter Night-

This work of art depicts Indigenous peoples across the globe and aspects related to their history. Mystical icons of the animal realm-a blue owl and a red fox- she adorns herself with elements from nature-Owl feathers- meant to inspire wisdom and the connection to heaven. Above her, the red moon issues a warning to the world as to the losses we have in the decimation of Original peoples and the natural world.

Winter's Door- She hurries her pups up into the forest's shadows & then before the sun sets, she turns one last time, & gazes upon the valley below. Will the sun rise upon a world devoid of peace? Look into her eyes & what do you see?

Image to the left-She Walks The Nectar Queen She is connected to the earth by tradition, history, and eventually for some survival. Yet the earth blooms for her.

Image to the right- The Green Mermaid Seaweed and pretty shells, sea flowers and bubbles. The Green mermaid resides in a mystic pool. A lovely face...belies a tragic tale.
